Our Services
LEO – Love Each Other
Community-Based Violence Interruption
LEO – Love Each Other – will build a powerful community-led violence interruption model designed to reduce shootings, prevent retaliatory violence, and support residents in transforming conflict into opportunity. This program will train, equip, and employ a professional team of credible messengers—individuals whose lived experiences of incarceration or neighborhood violence position them to mediate disputes and build authentic trust.
LEO will operate a structured schedule of daily street outreach, proactive engagement, and crisis response. Interrupters will identify emerging tensions and intervene before harm occurs. Alongside intervention, LEO will deliver weekly healing circles, family mediation sessions, and educational workshops focused on de-escalation and trauma recovery.
Through partnerships with schools, hospitals, and faith organizations, LEO will create a coordinated safety net so individuals at highest risk are consistently supported rather than isolated. Interrupters will also connect participants to pathways in employment, mental health care, and mentorship, helping them move beyond cycles of survival.
Over time, LEO aims to reduce neighborhood violence by at least 25%, improve perceptions of safety, and create career ladders in violence prevention for community members who have often been excluded from such opportunities. Funding will directly support the hiring of a full-time LEO Program Manager, ten trained interrupters, and operational infrastructure including vehicles, uniforms, protective equipment, and communications tools.
When fully implemented, LEO will demonstrate that communities can reclaim safety and dignity when trusted neighbors are empowered to lead.

Each graduate will receive individualized job placement assistance and post-hire coaching to help them succeed in their new roles.
The program plans to establish formal partnerships with logistics employers across Iowa, ensuring a clear pipeline from training to employment. By emphasizing both skill development and wraparound supports, Drive Together aims to achieve a 75% job placement rate within 60 days of program completion and maintain retention rates above national averages.

Participants will be welcomed by trained Community Health Workers who share their backgrounds and understand the challenges of accessing care. HTHAY will also host resilience-building workshops and provide referrals to long-term treatment, housing support, and benefits navigation.
The program is designed to build trust in health systems, reduce untreated health issues, and create healthier, more stable communities.
